Green tea has antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory activity–and anti-tumor activity. So, drinking green tea can help protect you against a lot of the environmental damage that’s occurring from a number of different sources.
Green tea has less mold in its production than black tea, so it seems to be more beneficial in that way, and various compounds isolated from green tea have been tested for decades and shown to have anti-cancer activity in the test tube. Those products include something called EGCG, and a number of other related compounds. So I recommend that green tea become a regular part of your diet if you’re not sensitive to the small amount of caffeine in it.
This time to the center of the stage, let’s have: broccoli! Broccoli has a lot of benefits, not only for your skin, but for the rest of your body. Especially because it has various substances in it that help you detoxify chemicals in your body. Things like indole-3-carbinol and di-indo-methane are related to the substances in broccoli that are so valuable for protecting you. I think it’s best to cook your broccoli. Why is that? Because in uncooked broccoli, there are substances called goiter-ages, that will bind-out iodine. And if you eat too much raw broccoli and its cousins like kale, raw, from the broccosica family, you’ll pull out iodine and you’ll put a stress on your thyroid. So I recommend steamed broccoli as a great food for helping your skin and helping detoxify your body from potential carcinogens.
Water is one of my favorite, well I guess you could say, foods. But you have to know how to use it. Water should be pure as possible, and the temperature should depend on what you’re doing. You don’t want to have ice cold water if you’re a type of person who’s already cold. And you don’t want to have it in the winter. Water should be taken between meals, because if you take the water with your meal, you dilute your digestive juices.
But it’s really important to hydrate your body adequately. So that means making sure that you remind yourself to drink water in-between times. Remember that if you’re drinking coffee or tea, that doesn’t always count as water, because those beverages are stimulating the kidney to get rid of water, so if your body needs more hydration, make sure you actually take it as water, and not water with other things in it like sugar or caffeine.
Oatmeal is soothing to the entire digestive system and can be very calming to irritation in the gut. However some oatmeal does have gluten in it, and if you’re gluten-sensitive, you may want to avoid that, and if you’re grain-sensitive, you may want to avoid the oats as well. So, this is a food to choose if you don’t have sensitivities to grains or wheat, certainly not if you have sensitivities to oats, that can make a big difference in calming yourself down.
In addition, they have some anti-depressant qualities, so it’s soothing not only to your gut, but also to your mind.
And finally, avina sativa, oats, is a natural soothing element for the skin when applied topically. Oatmeal baths have long been used to soothe irritated skin, so oats are an excellent food to be aware of if they match your body’s capabilities of dealing with them.
Pomegranates are a little bit tart, even when they’re ripe, but the purple dyes they have in them are powerful anti-oxidants, and protect your body and your blood vessels. In addition, they’re excellent for the heart. I believe when they’re in season, you should be sure to get your fill of this important fruit. They protect not only your heart, but your other vessels, and the vessels in your skin. They’re a valuable addition to a diet that keeps you healthy.
Eggs have gotten a bad rap because of the cholesterol in the yoke. I think the important thing is not to oxidize the yoke. (Oxidization creates free radicals which contribute to aging and other harmful things.) Therefore, it’s best to eat your eggs as soft boiled, poached, or sunny side up, but scrambled eggs should be reserved for just occasional use. Because you’re beating the yoke in air, and you’re heating it up directly.
Turmeric is a wonderful root that has tremendous uses of spice and herb that is a key component to curry in Indian cooking. It has many different protector properties including being anti-cancer being anti-inflammatory and be anti-microbial so that it kills bad organs in the body. It has a lot of different in flavoring and it has one big caution it’s such a powerful dye that it stain not only your clothing but even your table. Be sure to be careful when you’re using and be careful what you wearing.
Garlic is a wonderful food although some people around you may not appreciate that it is as wonderful as it is for you if they haven’t eaten it, you probably noticed that. Garlic has some tremendous properties, it’s been known to lower your cholesterol, it may have some blood pressure lowering effects, it may also have affects killing variety of different organisms that bother the body simply be very protective in that way it can be used for anything from colds to deeper infections. It’s a spice that blends a lot of flavor to foods and it can be used to prepare foods in order to cure organisms, like let’s say fish or meat is just beginning to turn, because it’s powerful antimicrobial. I highly recommend using garlic, but sharing it with your friends and people who are close to you because they may not appreciate it if you’re the only one around eating it.
Oregano and various herbs that are commonly used for spicing Italian foods are wonderful properties of being pain antimicrobial. They help kill fungus and bacteria in various foods and plants. If you have tomatoes just a little bit beyond what they should be then making a tomato sauce with them can help destroy any organisms in them and any fungus. The cautions although is that you can still have an allergic reactivity to the fungus that has been killed in those sauce and the second question is these important herbs have essential oils and those essential oils although they can be beneficial to killing viruses in bacteria and fungus in your body, can also cause hypersensitivity reaction. Some people do get allergic to these oils and those people need to avoid them. Oregano is a very valuable herb as well is related herbs, but you need to know not to use it if you have a hypersensitivity and not to depend upon it to destroy the presence of allergens that were previously infectious in your foods.
“Tell us Dr. Dattner, what are some of the supplements that you find work well for some your patience?”
“Well I use digestive enzymes I use herbs that support the liver in a variety of different ways and let me also emphasize that I make choices according to the individual patient. Now it might be that the person wants a vegetarian enzymes so that makes me make certain kinds of other choices, but I’ve also been fortunate to have learned a method for determining which of two different products a would be ideal by using muscle response testing and I’m able to test muscles that are directly related segmentally to the organ involved to see which one strengthens up that muscle related to the organ. I use that as an additional guide for finding out which things would be best among two things which intellectually makes sense as being useful from my understanding of the disorder that I am treating.”
“Wow that is fascinating!”
“It’s very helpful, and you know it’s still a little surprising being a scientist its been a big leap of faith for me to learn this, but having study with a number of masters who do this. I have gotten a sense of doing it just like when you go to an acupuncturist and they feel your pulse he gets a sense of something and it’s very hard to communicate in words.”
