OFFICE POLICIES:

Comprehensive Holistic Skincare Visits: We give you enough time for in-depth evaluation and treatment and may include nutritional counseling or alternative treatment which is not covered by insurance. Please understand that we have a 24-hour cancellation policy, and any missed appointments will incur a $50 cancellation fee, meaning we keep your deposit.

Insurance: In order to maintain a high level of care, I do not participate in any insurance companies or HMOs, but I do give patients a superbill to submit to their insurance company to obtain reimbursement. Surgery, lab work, and supplements, if required, cost extra.

Patient History: Our can be used most efficiently if you compile some information beforehand. Make a chronological account of the problem of concern, with time-related exposures, illnesses, and events included. When possible, collect and important medical records or summaries, and copies of significant lab and other test reports to bring with you.

Commitment: Real, lasting, effective natural treatment of the underlying causes of your skin disease is a process that requires commitment and time. I am deeply committed to your health and wellbeing, and I expect the same level of commitment on your part, in order for you to get the full benefit of my services.

A preliminary telephone consultation: with you or your referring physician can also help make actual visit as productive as possible. I conduct brief follow up visits by phone, to save in travel time and your expense, and in person visits only as necessary.

Email: I welcome e-mail inquiries about appointments. I regret that I am unable to answer e-mail with questions directly or indirectly related to your diagnosis and treatment without having seen you.

Skype: I do telephone and video Skype (video/online) health coaching, when it is difficult or impossible for a patient to get to New York. You should have already been seen by a dermatologist or other physician for this condition, have diagnostic information, and send or e-mail photos. You will also need to sign a release acknowledging the limits of diagnostic ability without actually seeing you in person.

Types of Dermatology: Dr. Dattner practices holistic dermatology and skin care, an umbrella term which for Dr. Dattner essentially includes applied kinesiology, herbal dermatology, integrative dermatology, naturopathic dermatology (though he is an MD), holistic dermatology, functional dermatology, alternative dermatology, natural dermatology.
