What you need to know about Rosacea

Rosacea is a condition that’s related to acne that involves redness of the face, enlargement of the vessels on the face, and also fine papules or pustules, usually at the central part of the face. Now there are a number of different types of this rash, some of which can be really disfiguring, where the nose can enlarge. Other types which just involve some redness that’s noticeable when you have an emotional reaction.

There are a number of things that are known to contribute to rosacea, could be caused by tiny mites called demodex that live in the skin. But not all rosacea is caused by that. The chronic inflammation of the skin causes enlargement of the little blood vessels that are in the skin called the capillaries, and that’s part of what causes the redness that you see.

So sometimes doing things or using nutritional substances that help those capillaries can make a big difference. Using inflammatory components of things that calm down inflammation can help make a difference and there’s a part that’s related to acne. So all the things that help the digestive contribution to acne can also be helpful for treating rosacea. And the main thing is not to be upset by it because that causes more blood to the face. And that causes the rosacea to be worst. So unwinding all the vicious cycles around this problem can make a big difference.

Acne Rosacea: a bug in the system.

6a00e55255b462883401a3fcb2f206970b-200wiThere have been a number of observations quoted in the literature of rosacea that is associated with a particular bacteria living in the stomach.

That bacteria is known for being associated with the formation of stomach ulcers, and is named Helicobacter pylori. Its ulcer-causing activity was proven by a bold physician who swallowed a culture of Helicobacter pylori, and got severe stomach upset and developed stomach ulcers.

Some, but by no means all, people with this bacteria living in their stomachs get rosacea, and some people taking the antibiotic triple therapy to get improvement in their rosacea.

So here we have a bug that does not live in the follicles in the face that sets off the reaction in the face that we see as rosacea. The ability of an organism at a distant site to cause a reaction on the face is likely due to the immune reaction it sets off. This could be the start of a natural acne treatment.

Acne Rosacea… Is it bugging you?

6a00e55255b462883401a3fcb2f206970b-200wiAnother inhabitant of the skin and hair follicles is named Staphylococcus Epidermitis. This form of staph is as common as robins in springtime; that is to say most people have this organism living on their skin.

Nevertheless, there is at least one report on rosacea that seems to be related to it. Whether the individual had some sort of immune defect, or the bacteria had some genetic variation, there is an inflammation caused by it.

There are many other organisms that share the skin, and Staphylococcus epidermitis is valuable because it is a benign bacteria that usually not only does not cause harm: it also occupies the niche so that harmful bacteria cannot find a place to grow. Unfortunately, even this “friend” can sometimes be a bad actor. Here’s a reference to the study.

Rosacea… Acne’s Annoying Cousin.

6a00e55255b462883401a3fcb2f206970b-200wiMy seventh grade science teacher used to recite a quote, to give us the essence of the biologic world:

“Big fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite ‘em, and little fleas have smaller fleas, and so on, ad infinitum.”

And so it goes with rosacea. A portion of the people with rosacea have organisms living in the follicles that may be part of the cause of the rash.

One of the organisms that has been found in increased numbers in the hair follicles is a mite (not a flea, but a very distant relative), named Demodex folliculorum. A propos to the quote, Demodex is inhabited by a bacteria called Bacillus Oleronius, which itself has been suspected to be a stimulus of the inflammation seen. Would you believe, this bacteria was first identified in rear gut of a termite? It may be involved in causing the downfall of both your appearance and your house!

Acne Rosacea – What’s Getting Under Your Skin?

6a00e55255b462883401a3fcb2f206970b-200wiTreating your acne rosacea naturally can bring up a bit of shock. People are often horrified to find out that there are tiny organisms living in the follicles on their nose and the center of their face. Some of those organisms include tiny mites that burrow into the hair follicles with their tail sticking out.

These mites, known as Demodex, are shaped like tiny cigars, with legs at one end. Identifying an abundance of them under the microscope after scraping the skin can be very helpful for the treating dermatologist, and for the patient as well.

Nevertheless, they can bring up great disgust when the patient sees them, wiggling under the microscope after being scraped off their skin. There is an old morbid old children’s rhyme: “the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, the worms play pinochle on your snout.” Sounds like rosacea to me.

What’s more, these mites have bacteria living inside of them, which may be a stimulation for the inflammation seen in rosacea. To top that off, this is only the beginning of the list of organisms living in the hair follicles that are suspected to play a role in causing rosacea. Treating rosacea naturally can be the safest, longest-lasting way to clear it. More on treatment methods in the next blog.

How Electricity Can Hurt or Heal Your Skin, Part 3

6a00e55255b4628834017d431fe747970c-320wiOther electrical devices have been made which record the body’s energetic responses to various frequencies. For example, the Asyra, is the tenth and latest device built by G Tech, and the culmination of 35 years of experience in this field. It beams frequencies which are energetically related to different specific issues (such as chemical toxins, allergies, digestion, heavy metals.)

The person being tested holds a brass electrode in each hand, and the device registers changes which are recorded by the Asyra. It then automatically selects remedies for any failed tests. It helps correct the energetic imbalances underlying various chemical imbalances, placing an electronic “signature” on a drainage remedy or solution.
I am actively using the Asyra to assess such functional energetic changes which may help restore balance to individuals who I see in my practice. This extends my functional evaluation to assessing and treating the energetic imbalances underlying.
If you are interested in having work done with the Asyra, please contact my office to set up an appointment. The Asyra can also be used remotely, in the case that you’re not near New York.
As you may imagine, if helpful subtle energy fields can affect the body in a healing way, there is a possibility that other energy fields can aggravate and interfere with biochemical processes in the body. Cell phones, microwave transmitters and towers, radio and television waves, computers, high voltage power lines and equipment, wireless networks, are just some of the new exposures people are exposed to for the benefits they bring. Only by observing carefully will we be able to identify if any of these exposures are causing any harm.

How Electricity Can Hurt or Heal Your Skin, Part 1

6a00e55255b462883401901b9744cb970b-200wiWe go about our day using a variety of electronic devices which intercept and send packets of information in the form of energy at various frequencies and power levels, making up what we know as radio, Television, mobile phone, and wi-fi signals. All are composed of specific wavelengths of energy, varied in a sequence to produce what we hear as voice and see as pictures on our screen, etc.

The term “energy” essentially refers to an unseen force or packet of information, and has been used a lot in the fields of medicine and healing recently.

Dr. Robert O. Becker, a researcher and Orthopedic surgeon, who wrote “The Body Electric” and other works on the effects of electric currents on bone healing and other events in the body. He, like others today, was concerned about the effects of strong electric fields on the body.

At the molecular level, smaller than cells, our bodies function with an enormous series of perfectly-timed chemical reactions. Each of the attractions and repulsions and chemical transformations require electrical forces and the addition or release of specific electrical or other forms of energy. And those biological processes occur in a given sequence, so that there are specific patterns with specific types of chemicals. If you could watch these reactions with tiny meters, you could measure these reactions.Electronic medical devices that give off pulsed electrical frequencies have been studied to determine which frequencies activates which enzymes in the process of skin repair. Recent scientific studies of a medical device sending a pulsed electromagnetic field of a particular frequency, have shown several beneficial effects, including increasing the healing wound-strength by 58%. A device is already being sold commercially to speed wound healing after plastic surgery, using that same frequency.

Stay tuned for parts two and three.
